Well, I came home from work and was still slightly full from my lunch: a gyro from the cafe across the street from the hospital. A glass of wine at midnight on my not-empty stomach sounded perfect.
I’ve had this bottle of wine chilling in my fridge for four days now, but the timing just didn’t seem right. But here after a rare “easy” day at work, it was waiting to welcome me home. I googled the bottle online and found a review on Wine Awesomeness with some tasting notes and recommendation to drink it while listening to Dragonfly by Ziggy Marley.
Blend: 82% Sauvignon Blanc, 13% Pinot Gris, 5% Sémillon// Nose: Blossoms and stone fruit sunbathing in the park on a summer day// Palate: White peach and apricot assume their most tropical for while a lemony mineral acidity provides ample backbone// Drink it while listening to Dragonfly – Ziggy Marley

I sat down at my kitchen table with nothing but a glass of wine in front of me. I gave the glass a swirl and inhaled. It didn’t smell too dry. It smelled fruity. I think all white wines smell like pear and thats what this one smelled like to me.
I swirled it again and watched the legs run down the glass quickly. I couldn’t remember which alcohol level that correlated with, but it was cool to see nonetheless.
Finally, I took a drink. Sweet. but not too sweet. Light, but not crisp like a summer wine. Not too dry either. It tastes like a perfectly balanced white wine.
Oh this one is yummy. I think to myself. I start wondering things like, “What’s a good number of bottles to order for a wine you discover you like? Three? Six?” Please let me know in the comments below.
Ziggy Marley radio is now playing in the background of my kitchen and I don’t feel my usual collapse-in-bed-right-after-work vibe. I think I’ll read a chapter or two and have this lovely Yard Dog keep me company.
